Inside the Yao Homeland.
An ethnic minority with a long history, the Yao spread over 140 counties in Guangxi, Guizhou, Yunnan, Guangdong. Hunan and Jiangxi. This ethnic group consists of many branches: Pan , Chashan, Hualan, Shanzi, Ao, Dongshan, Hong, Fan, Huatou, Landian, Daban, Tujia, Baiku, Guoshan, Bapai, Bunu and Pingding. Most of these branches live in mountainous regions, each maintaining its unique customs, dialect and costume.
The Museum of the Yao in Jinxiu, Guangxi, is believed to be the only one dedicated to the life of the Yao in the world; Jinxiu Yao Autonomous County is believed by people of Yao origin from various parts of the world to be the hometown of the Yao, where they always come to look for their ancestral roots. In fact, the rich cultural traditions and varied customs and lifestyles make Guangxi as a whole a colorful living museum of the Yao people.
